Aisha Dorley (she/her) is a master’s in public health student, specializing in maternal and child health at The Milken Institute of Public Health. She has a keen interest in birth equity, birthing justice, and improving maternal health outcomes. Her dedication to maternal and child health stems from recognizing the systemic disparities and inequalities that persist in maternal healthcare, particularly affecting marginalized communities. Throughout her academic journey, Aisha has delved into extensive research and coursework, exploring topics such as cultural competence in healthcare, implicit bias in maternity care, and community-based interventions for maternal health. Her studies have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted issues at play and have fueled her commitment to addressing birth disparities and promoting equitable access to quality care for all birthing people. She is currently in the process of becoming a doula, and proud to be a member of the Community Doula Network.
